Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, issuant from sinister base bendwise a trestle Argent surmounted overall by a bayonet Azure (Light Blue). Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Silver scroll inscribed "CONSTRUCT AND CONQUER" in Black letters.

Symbolism
Scarlet and white are the colors used for the Engineers, the unit's former designation. The trestle and bayonet are symbolic of the dual mission of the Engineers as an arm and a service. The blue of the bayonet alludes to the origin of the unit as an Infantry Company.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 1030th Engineer Battalion (Combat) on 26 January 1960. It was redesignated for the 1030th Transportation Battalion effective 1 September 2006, with the description and symbolism updated.

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 1030th Engineer Battalion (Combat) on 26 January 1960. It was cancelled on 28 September 1970. The insignia was reinstated for the 1030th Engineer Battalion on 10 March 1997. It was redesignated for the 1030th Transportation Battalion effective 1 September 2006, with the symbolism updated.
